Raw boards

Cut-to-size chipboard and MDF parts for shelves, cabinets and furniture.

Laminated boards

White, woodgrain and solid colour options for melamine chipboard and MDF.

Edge banding

Choose each edge to be banded and calculate the length required.

Which material should I choose?

Choose the board core and its outer finish. MDF and chipboard describe the core; “lam” describes the decorative facing.

Smooth raw MDF surface and uniform fibre core

MDF

A smooth board made from fine wood fibres. Raw MDF can be considered for parts that will be painted or faced later.

Chipboard (Sunta)

A board made from wood particles, also called particleboard. Raw chipboard and decorative melamine-faced chipboard have different finishes.

White melamine surface and uniform fine-fibre MDF core

MDFLAM

MDF with decorative melamine facing. Its coloured or patterned surface is ready; cut edges can be banded separately.

White melamine surface and visible chipboard core

Suntalam

Melamine-faced chipboard, suitable for applications such as shelves and cabinet carcasses. Consider thickness and intended use alongside colour.

MDFLAM = melamine-faced MDF · Suntalam = melamine-faced chipboard. A wood-pattern finish does not mean solid wood.

Questions about cutting and ordering

What to know when choosing a material and preparing your dimensions.

Which material should I use for a shelf or cabinet?

Consider melamine-faced chipboard or MDF for a ready-coloured surface, or raw boards if you plan to paint or apply another finish. Shelf span, load, fixings and environment also matter. Include the intended use in your WhatsApp message.

Does “lam” mean a wood pattern?

No. Here it means decorative melamine facing, including white and plain colours. MDFLAM has an MDF core; suntalam has a chipboard core.

What is edge banding and which edges should I choose?

A strip covers the edges exposed by cutting and completes the appearance. Select left, right, top and bottom according to the installed position. Leave any edges you do not want banded unselected.

How should I enter dimensions?

Enter height, width and quantity in whole millimetres. For 60 × 40 cm, enter 600 × 400 mm. State the finished size you need; do not add or subtract band thickness yourself. Cutting and band allowances are confirmed by the workshop before production.

Why does grain direction matter?

Directional finishes affect how assembled parts look together. Choose “Patterned / directional” to set each part’s grain direction. Non-directional parts may rotate for a better layout.

Can I bring my own board?

Yes. Choose “I’ll bring my own material” for cutting and banding. Share its actual size, thickness and condition via WhatsApp; the workshop checks suitability.

Do I need an Excel file or technical drawing?

Dimensions and quantities are enough for rectangular parts. Use the CSV template or an XLSX file for bulk entry. This tool does not calculate curved cuts, holes or special machining; send drawings and details separately via WhatsApp.

What do the cutting plan and efficiency show?

The plan is a preliminary layout. Efficiency is part area divided by total board area. Dimensions, grain direction and cutting gaps affect the result. Workshop review is required; no fixed waste rate is guaranteed.

Is the price final and do I pay online?

The tool estimates material, cutting and selected edge banding costs. No online payment is collected. Send the summary via WhatsApp to confirm availability, final price and order terms.

How are lead time and delivery agreed?

They depend on quantities, material supply, operations and the workshop schedule. Confirm collection or shipping, timing and any delivery cost via WhatsApp when agreeing the order.
